Building partnerships with Reading Together®

The National Library has published (on 28 November 2014) a blog titled 'Building partnerships with Reading Together', available here. Extracts follow:

In November fifty children, staff, parents and the Deputy Principal of Otahuhu School alighted from their bendy-bus at the Services to Schools centre in Auckland. The school is one of many involved in the Reading Together® Programme. The visit was a treat for the children and parents for their work undertaken so far.
Little did they know that the centre was all geared up and excited to have them on board. Trolleys of new books had been put aside, displays set up, activities planned and mini passports ready to be stamped once the children completed an activity.
Everything planned tied in with reading engagement. ...
A tour around the library had their eyes on stalks at the size of the collection. The place was abuzz with discussion about books as the children selected books to read over the summer. Summer reading is a natural fit with Reading Together®. Both benefiting from increased parental understanding about the importance of spending time reading together and reading for pleasure. ...
