The New Zealand Ministry of Education is inviting applications for funding to implement the Reading Together® programme. Applications open for Reading Together® Te Pānui Ngātahi
Schools can apply for funding to deliver Reading Together® Te Pānui Ngātahi.
Reading Together® Te Pānui Ngātahi is a strengths-based, literacy intervention that supports parents and whānau to learn strategies to positively support their children’s reading at home. It runs over four workshops (1 hour 15 minutes in length) and builds high-trust relationships between staff, parents, whānau, librarians and communities.
The programme has been found to increase children’s meaningful access to books, support whānau bonding and raise reading achievement.

In these workshops, whānau learn strategies to support their children’s reading at home and make it an enjoyable learning and bonding experience for their family.

Many parents and whānau have spoken about the positive impact Reading Together® had on their children’s learning and achievement, and their relationships as a family. It also found that the programme has contributed to building high-trust relationships between schools, parents and whānau, librarians, communities and iwi.

Reading Together® applications now open
Reading Together® Te Pānui Ngātahi is a strengths-based series of workshops for parents and whānau to support their children’s reading at home. Families taking part in Reading Together® will also receive sets of books to read with their children and practise the strategies they learned from the workshops.
If you are interested in offering Reading Together® in 2023/24, applications for funding are open. Schools | kura will have 10 weeks to deliver the programme if their application is successful. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and apply.
