Reading Together® at Ngatimoti School

The following information about the Reading Together® programme at Ngatimoti School is sourced from Page 2 of the School Newsletter Week 2, Term 2, 2022 (the newsletters are available here):

Reading is a fundamental life skill, and so we are very happy to be running the Reading Together® programme for parents of junior children. This programme is designed to give parents ways to support their children when they are learning to read.

As a parent, I understand how difficult it can be to know what to do when your child brings home a book. How do you actually help them to develop a love of reading? How can you help them to learn to read? Whose job is it to teach your child to read?

Teachers see that children who grasp reading often have a ‘head start’ in other areas of their schooling. It gives them a confidence, and is a great way to snuggle up for a bonding and sharing time!

All junior room parents are welcome to come along to these Reading Together® sessions, starting ... We will even provide kai for your children’s dinner :-)
