Mā the ako ngātahi, ka tūtuki ngātahi.
Learning together, achieving together.Reading together is one of our most treasured times here at Pūmanawa Bishopdale.
Our kaiako and tamariki love becoming fully immersed in a good story, sharing moments of wonder as we explore new worlds through books. Along the way, we learn about different animals, sounds, language, and ideas all within the joy of storytelling. These shared reading experiences are simple, special, and deeply meaningful for our learning community.

Our tamariki love being read stories each day by our amazing kaiako. When we read together at preschool, children are:
- Learning new words and how to use them
- Building listening and focus skills
- Practising how to predict and make sense of stories
- Strengthening their love for books (which makes learning to read so much easier later on!)
The magic happens because teachers can pause to ask questions, connect the story to children’s own experiences, and introduce rich vocabulary in a natural, playful way.
