Reading together at Pūmanawa Bishopdale Early Learning Centre

On 12 August 2025, the following was posted on the Pūmanawa Bishopdale Early Learning Centre Facebook page:

Our tamariki love being read stories each day by our amazing kaiako.

When we read together at preschool, children are:

  • Learning new words and how to use them
  • Building listening and focus skills
  • Practising how to predict and make sense of stories
  • Strengthening their love for books (which makes learning to read so much easier later on!)

The magic happens because teachers can pause to ask questions, connect the story to children’s own experiences, and introduce rich vocabulary in a natural, playful way.
